Blockade at BegleyÕs Corner, William Street. According to the caption the fighting is over but still the barricades block the entrance to William Street. Note the shell marks on the wall at BegleyÕs Corner. Even today, if one looks from the spot this picture was taken, the repair work can be seen on the walls. The white elegant looking building was owned by OÕMahony & Co., who later moved to the other side of the street to make way for what was the Munster & Leinster Bank. OÕMahonyÕs Religious Goods Store closed its doors for the last time in 2007. SpillaneÕs, the Gas Co. Showrooms, and David BegleyÕs pub are the businesses most prominent in the picture. Kevin Hartigan had a bycle shop and later a pub on this corner site
