Rugby legend, Liam Hall, boxed with St. Francis Boxing Club early in his sporting career. As a rugby player he won many accolades and trophies including four Munster Senior Cup medals with Garryowen, captaining the 1974 side to victory. He also won a Leinster Schools Senior Cup Medal with Blackrock College, Dublin, in 1963, and was elected President of Garryowen in 1995/’96. While with UCC he played with the first Munster team to beat a touring side when they defeated Australia 11-8 in 1967 and as a Garryowen player he was part of the Munster team that played South Africa in Limerick in January 1970. Liam also toured with Ireland against Australia and Argentina but at the time “caps” were not awarded. As a boxer Liam won a Munster title in the colours of St. Francis Boxing Club
