008 Limerick Grand Prix The Pits at William Street
While we have seen pictures of the pits during the Grand Prix of the 1930s this picture possibly is one of the best of them. It shows the pits where the drivers will race from and it is interesting to see the only car in the pit stop is that of the Prince of Siam, better known as Prince Bira. He was No. 2 on the grid for the 1936 race. Limerick racing enthusiast, Mr.O’Dwyer of Adare built his own car for the 1936 race and he was No. 21 on the grid. Interesting to see the shop fronts and the crowds hanging out windows.
